SGRIPTIOFEST: Calling all new writers, performers and directors!
SGRIPTIOFEST is back for an exciting third festival in 2022! We are looking for emerging and community writers to produce short scripts / extracts from longer scripts of 10 pages or less. Our favourite ones will then be either filmed and performed as part of our livestream or rehearsed for a live reading at the in person festival here in Aberystwyth in February 2022. This year’s festival is funded by the Anna Evans Community Arts Grant, established in memory of an incredible local artist facilitator and to support community arts work in Ceredigion.
Guidance for script/proposal submissions:
Ideally the pieces or extracts need to have no more than 3 characters.
They need to have a run-time of less than 10 minutes (under 10 pages).
As we’re encouraging a wide range of participants, all content should be appropriate for all ages. This does not mean that you can’t discuss certain themes, it just means you might have to be creative about the way in which these are discussed.
The genre can be anything, eg spoken word, theatre script, screenplay, extract from a novel, music piece - as long as it is your own original work.
The DEADLINE for submissions is Sunday 14 November 2021.
We're also looking for emerging and community performers and directors to take part in the filmed and/or live readings, so please let us know if you’re interested in getting involved.
We welcome people with varying levels of experience to take part, whether this is your first time making or acting on film or stage, as some support will be provided in bringing your ideas to life. We also encourage participation from a diverse range of backgrounds, including but not limited to young people, older people, members of the Global majority, neurodiverse participants, people with disabilities and members of the LGBTQ+ community - whoever you are, we want to hear your story!
