Anna Sherratt / Artistic Director & Founder
Anna started writing scripts and music during her Drama degree at university, and somewhere along the way came up with the very silly idea of putting on a performance. Some equally silly (and wonderful) people supported her in this, and together they decided it would be nice to support other young people who want to make theatre too. Anna likes collecting owls and musical instruments, and believes that all of the best ideas begin with tea.
Jessica Gittins / Artistic Director and Company Secretary
Jessica has always had a passion for the arts, but is a relative newcomer to the stage. After taking the plunge and doing a degree in Drama and Theatre Studies she has never looked back; now choosing to spend pretty much 99% of her free time locked away in a rehearsal space (the other 1% is spent on Skyrim, reading things for her MA, working as an administrator and occasionally wincing at the sun). Jess loves all aspects of theatre, having experience in writing, directing, acting and light/sound/stage design, but acting holds a particularly snug place in her heart.
Barrie Stott / Production Manager
Barrie started his career in the theatre at the age of 16, on the island of Malta, when he secured the role of Naz in Philip Ridley’s Mercury Fur in 2007. Aside from the usual school productions when younger, he has performed in numerous professional roles over the last ten years as well as directed an equally expansive array of productions.
Currently, Barrie works as Head of Drama at Penglais School, Aberystwyth and at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre, where he is a drama tutor with the Stage School and Youth Theatre. He is thrilled to be working with the Awaken team and looks forward to bringing lots of exciting productions to life!
Curtis Rodney / Graphics Officer
Curtis has a varied background. He’s worked both in front and behind the scenes in theatre, completed a chemistry degree, makes podcasts and does graphic and web design projects. Now he works on helping Awakennyn fulfil what he calls their “overflowing potential” by using his wide array of talents to support the company in any way he can, from poster design to running cable and everything inbetween.
